"The arms are reputed to be Wigmore of that Ilk impaling Scott (possibly Buccleugh but I cannot find a reference to a demi-eagle rising for a crest), certainly one of the Scott families anyway.
Nisbet records Wigmore as 'Argent, a bend Sable voided wavy Argent' which looks about right although more contemporary with the age of the building are the arms of Weigmair of that Ilk which are 'Argent on a bend Sable a riband dancetty Argent' according to the Lindsay of the Mount Armorial and Hague Roll! However, the two ribands wavy on the bend on the actual armorial stone are nearer to Nisbet's blazon. The crest appears to be the sun in her glory.
The Scott arms are of course, Or on a bend Azure a star accompanied by two crescents of the Field".
